Wine Mafia steal an entire Vineyard

Thieves have stolen an entire vineyard in the south of France. The incident took place near Béziers in the Hérault  region and it is thought that the theft amounts to 35 tonnes of grapes.

Police say that two harvesting machines were used to strip the vines of their ripened fruit, and have speculated that the grapes were stolen to order. “These are some of the best grapes in France, and we fear a wine mafia gang has stolen them,” said a detective.

Winegrower Roland Cavaille said he faces financial ruin.

Rumours that the grapes will resurface in The Sopranos wine range have neither been confirmed or denied.
