Wine drinkers of the web, I need your help…

Dear wine drinkers,

WineOfTheWeek has been in vinous purgatory since January 1st 2011.

Motivated by delusional hopes of weight loss and heightened intellectual prowess, we have existed for 33 days without a single drop of alcohol. Yes, dear friends, you hear me correctly. I’ve been ‘off the booze’.

I have now realised the foolishness of my ways and, frustrated at the loss of only 4lbs from the midriff, I have decided to get back on the wonderful wagon of wine.

But which wine should welcome me back? Sitting on my mantelpiece throughout January have been these four wonderful temptations.

I’m not sure which one to opt for so I’ve put it to a public vote. Cast away dear friends!!

why is there not an option for all four with very good friends? That’s what I would do.

I would vote for Buckfast, but it seems to be missing from the list…

      Hmmm. Funny that!

It has to be the Aglianico. You’ll need something with some real punch and character to wake up those taste buds and something a little bit different and wild to remind why stopping drinking is a terrible idea. Less but better is the mantra for 2011. The cool restraint of the classy Batailley will wait for another day.

Gareth, you are absolutely right. ‘Less but better’ is my wine drinking mantra this year also. Italy is currently well in the lead
